Barry Neilsen, that's me. EM - Electronic Music - is what I do for much of the time at the moment. I also play electric bass and West African percussion, but that's another story and for another web page - see the (other) item in the menu above.
I have a Youtube Channel, though its content is all a bit hit and miss and I have some tracks on SoundCloud, too, but there are a whole lot more on the Internet Archive and they stretch back through several decades.
You can also find me on Facebook, which is where I'll put links to all my latest audio and video uploads and is, therefore, probably the best place to follow what I'm up to. When I put videos on Youtube I'll try to remember to add them to this play list. I may put links up here from time to time, too, but don't count on it.
I've been making music with synths and computers since about 1980. It hasn't been a steady, continuous, journey. I've had a career as a programmer and other IT related things. I've had a family. And since I'm not the kind of person who can juggle lots of different things in a single life, the music was put into the background for several lengthy periods. Now, though, I'm back with music and fortunate enough to be able to devote all my time to it in one form or another.
I'm also a big fan of Modal Electronics. I bought one of the first of their 002 synths and something just clicked with me. Right place, right time, kind of thing. I just keep thinking of things to try with it and it's inspired more recordings from me than anything else since the mid nineties. I also got to know the people in the company and very much appreciate that they share many of my tracks. This has brought me much kind attention that wouldn't otherwise have come my way. So, thanks guys.
