Molly Charles is researcher turned blogger from India holds a PhD in anthropology from the Pune University. Her thesis paper was on Cannabis and Culture- Impact of Drug Policy and Drug Trade.

She was technical advisor to Global Drug Policy Observatory, prior to which have done consultancy with AIDSTAR-One, UNESCO, Avert (Mumbai), UNICEF (Mumbai), Intermon-Oxfam, NARC (Mumbai), and with different NGOs in India.

She is the Ex-Deputy Director and founding member of National Addiction Research Centre till 1999,after which she has been working as independent consultant to different National and international Agencies.

Area of Work:

She has worked on diverse aspects of Drug Abuse Management - Research, Treatment and Policy analysis with specific focus on the need for decriminalization and looking at socio-cultural forms of control with emphasis on harm minimization as against a criminalization of the drug use.

Her other professional contributions cover diverse societal issues as work in HIV/AIDS Management, as a consultant to AIDSTAR-One and Avert Society (Mumbai).

She has been involved with the documentation of work in the field and the monitoring and evaluation of development projects for Intermon Oxfam and worked on development projects (short term) for Intermon Oxfam and Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
