Summary

Psalm 121, interpreted through the perspective of the New Covenant in Christ, is a song of assurance and trust in God's protection and guidance, finding its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus.

The psalmist's declaration that our help comes from the Lord aligns with Jesus' role as our Savior and Helper, who provides strength and support in all circumstances (Hebrews 4:15, Philippians 4:13).

The psalmist's acknowledgment that God is our keeper and shade prefigures Jesus' care and protection over His followers, shielding them from the harms of this world (John 10:27-28, Psalm 91:1-2).

The psalmist's description of God neither slumbering nor sleeping reflects the constant vigilance and presence of Jesus, who intercedes for us and watches over us at all times (Hebrews 7:25, Matthew 28:20).

The psalmist's affirmation that God is our keeper from all evil corresponds to Jesus' victory over the powers of darkness and His promise to keep us safe from eternal harm (Colossians 2:15, John 10:28-29).

The psalmist's assurance of God's preservation of our going out and coming in anticipates Jesus' guidance in every aspect of our lives, leading us on the path of righteousness (John 14:6, Matthew 7:14).

Ultimately, Psalm 121 leads us to Jesus as our Shepherd, Protector, and Guide, inviting us to find unwavering trust in Him for our journey through life and eternity.
