Title: Universal compactified Jacobians
Abstract: The theory of compactified Jacobians of singular curves is very rich, in particular because there is a number of different constructions available differing both in generality and approach. Some of these approaches can be unsderstood from a ”universal point of view”, i.e. by constructing a compactification which makes sense over the moduli space of curves. I will give an overview of the different constructions available so far, the relations among them, and eventually speculate on a number of possible applications of this theory.
