Those interested in presenting at the MJHW are advised of the following points:
All disciplines are welcome.
In principle, talks should be on modern topics (Bakumatsu/Meiji to the present), focused on Japan or Japanese people. Comparative approaches are also welcomed.
Strong preference is given to regular attendees of the workshop.
Strong preference is given first to current PhD candidates and master's students developing their dissertation topics, followed thereafter by senior scholars.
In principle, presenters will deliver a talk that has not been given at another forum in the Tokyo area.
Preference is given to presenters delivering an in-person talk at the workshop venue in Tokyo, though online talks are possible on a case-by-case basis.
