Teaching Mathematics with Understanding

Professor Zarnstorff will highlight manipulatives and models that encourage 3rd-8th grade students to learn math with understanding.  He will focus on using manipulatives and models to emphasize the 'why' in 3rd-8th grade mathematics.

Professor Tyson Zarnstorff has taught mathematics to just about all ages of students.  He has a Master's degree in Mathematics Education from Western Governors University.  He taught 3rd-9th grade math in Lowell, AR, 6th-12th grade math in Doral, FL, and now currently teaches mathematics education at Martin Luther College along with a few mathematics major classes on the side.  He is a firm believer that every student can learn mathematics!
