Tips and Tricks to Help Students Think Scientifically (and DO Science) (4-8)

How can we help our students think scientifically and be better at doing science? This presentation hopes to address this question by examining the following topics:

• Our philosophy of teaching science
• The critical areas that make science, science
• Demonstrations that can accomplish not only an appreciation for science but an opportunity for students to engage in scientific thinking

Presenter Greg Schibbelhut was a 1994 graduate of the 5-year STEP program at Dr. Martin Luther College. After serving his Lord at Nebraska Lutheran for 7 years teaching a variety of sciences there, he accepted a Call to his current location at Luther High School in Onalaska, WI. He now teaches Chemistry, Earth Science, and Digital Video along with some coaching responsibilities.
