In the Program, MNDCMS in Zamboanga Peninsula, there is a need of collaboration of all health sectors - government hospitals and health institutions and private hospitals and health institutions - to bring down the maternal and neonatal deaths in Zamboanga Peninsula.
In the project dubbed as Private Hospitals Collaboration in MNDCMS-ZamboP, the hospitals need not go through the structured OCILs on MDCMS and NDCMS that lead to various levels of certification (Commitment / Accomplishment; Proficiency; Mastery; Best Practice; Performance Excellence). However, they are most welcome, if they want to for whatever reasons such as promoting a learning organization and promoting an effective, efficient, and sustainable maternal and neonatal death control management systems in particular and a health program management system in general.
What are recommended, if not expected, of the private hospitals in the collaboration in MNDCMS-ZamboP are at least the following:
Statistics and information on the maternal and neonatal deaths in the respective private hospitals which will be used constructively for the attainment of near-zero maternal and neonatal deaths in Zamboanga Peninsula. Examples of constructive uses: tracking of the number of maternal and neonatal deaths in a certain period of time needed for a cummulative statistics and sharing of information on how to prevent maternal and neonatal deaths in the hospitals and in the community.
Networking with other hospitals, particularly government hospitals, in reducing and preventing maternal and neonatal deaths in Zamboanga Peninsula. The networking should be bilateral or multilateral. The networking should be in the areas of support and referral system for whoever is in need of something that will prevent maternal and neonatal deaths. The support and referral system are commonly needed in the equipment, both diagnostic and treatment; higher level of competency of the medical specialists; and indigency program. At times, blood, medicine, supplies and health care professionals are needed in the support and referral system.
Collaboration with the Department of Health's maternal and newborn program in terms of support and enhancement by the private hospitals.
With the Private Hospitals Collaboration in MNDCMS-ZamboP, there is a greater chance for achieving the target of near-zero maternal and neonatal deaths in Zamboanga Peninsula.
On March 15, 2016, Zamboanga Peninsula shared its 2015 statistics. NO maternal deaths and 4/495 neonatal deaths (0.8%) [1sepsis; 1 meconium aspirations syndrome; 1 diaphragmatic hernia; and 1 neonatal pneumonia]
