Dr. Mehran Maalekian is Research & Development Director of Mat-Tech. He received his Doctorate in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering with distinction from Graz University of Technology in 2007. As a visiting scientist he spent some time at the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) and then worked as a postdoc at Technical University of Vienna. In 2009 he received Postdoctoral Fellowship award from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and worked as research scientist and teaching fellow at the University of British Columbia. He then joined AIM Metals & Alloys, a leading global manufacturer of solder assembly materials for the electronics industry, in 2011 as the chief metallurgist and became the Global Research & Development Director of AIM. His research program on the development of environmentally benign materials for electronics was granted by NRC IRAP (The National Research Council of Canada Industry Research Assistance Program). Since 2018 he is R&D Manager of Mat-Tech, a high-tech company in Assembly and advanced Soldering, Brazing and Diffusion Bonding, and Manufacturing.
Dr. Maalekian’s research focuses on the development of advanced materials, processing, and manufacturing techniques. For his research he uses experimental investigations as well as modelling techniques to understand processing-structure-property relationships.
