Exploratory Interview - It was used to collect opinions of experts on adult consequences of childhood maltreatment. Information gathered with this instrument was merged with other available scientific literature to develop a structured questionnaire.
Structured Questionnaire - Screening instrument about opinions on the need for public health actions to mitigate the consequences of childhood maltreatment in community adults. Professionals from European countries working in the field of childhood maltreatment are invited to share their opinions.
Results and Follow-up - Results and follow-up questions of the first round of data collection. 84 experts participated and most recognized the need for public health actions to mitigate consequences of child maltreatment in adults in the community. Increase community awareness was the most voted strategy. However, the risks of victimization and medicalize complaints have been identified. Thus, a second round of questions is under discussion to expand the knowledge about how to increase community awareness in adults in the community, minimizing the aforementioned risks.
