As we approach the end of another year we reflect on our accomplishments and our dreams. For the Mitchell County Historical Society we had a remarkable year with the completion and grand opening of our new museum, fundraising efforts continue and we are whittling down our debt, and we celebrated one of our most successful Steam & Power Shows in recent history.
Museum attendance is up, educational programs are in place, and there's the beginning of plans for more improvements at our Cedar Valley Memories site.
As we approach the end of 2026 and dream of our future we have two financial goals in mind:
1. Pay off the existing debt carried on our new museum. Currently we still owe about $250,000.
2. Begin an endowment fund to cover continued operation of the Society into the future. See our letter here.
