Mitchel K Ahern's Web Presence
This site is under construction, it is taking over from the Mitchelka.org site, which has been misplaced.
Mitchel Ahern is a letterpress printer, artist, musician, poet, playwright, activist, performer; and consultant; weaving his printmaking practices through all of these practices. As Director of Operations at the Museum of Printing in Haverhill he accepts donations of tens of thousands of pounds of printing equipment and materials, which are accessioned, or cleaned up and sold to practitioners of historic printing technologies. As Trustee and Librarian at the G.A.R. Hall and Museum in Lynn his work has been incorporated into exhibits and handouts. His monumental letterpress printed scrolls have been exhibited and performed at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Figment Festivals, Universities, and civic spaces. His 240 foot fabric scroll of 19th century abolitionist and educator Charlotte Forten is currently installed on the grounds of the Whittier Birthplace Museum in Haverhill. His play R.U.R. or Are You? is currently in production through Fort Point Theatre channel. Mitchel's consulting practice, Mitchelka Consulting, harkens back to his career as a digital marketer, working with nonprofits and grassroots political campaigns, and also integrates into his letterpress practice. He buys, sells, and maintains letterpress printing presses, and helps universities and museums set up and run letterpress print shops.
