Miriam Hortas-Rico
Welcome to my site!
I am Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and Public Finance, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain), and Director of the Master in Economic Development and Public Policy. I am also an associate researcher of RIFDE (Spanish Network on Regional Funding and Decentralization) and a member of the Board of Directors of DERNET (Political and Fiscal Decentralization Network). I recently joined the Editorial Board of Growth and Change - A Journal of Urban and Regional Policy.
I completed my PhD in Economics at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in February 2013, under the supervision of Professor Albert Solé-Ollé (Universitat de Barcelona). I hold a MSc in Economics from the University College London (UK) and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Universitat de Barcelona. I have been a visiting scholar at the University of California-Santa Barbara and at the University of California-Irvine (USA).
My main research interests are in Fiscal Federalism, Urban Economics, and Political Economy.
