Dealing with Questions or Concerns
During a varsity athletic season, a plethora of questions and concerns can arise. Coaches understand this very well. Questions can arise about essentially anything pertaining to the season starting anywhere from our basic day to day procedures to how we make decisions about who will compete in a particular competition and in which events that athlete will compete.
Your coaches have rationale behind our decisions and are very willing to share that rationale with you if you have a concern or want to better understand why something is the way it is. All decisions are made in the best interest of the team. That being said, it is possible some things can be overlooked. Your Head Coach is human and has the potential to make errors at times.
Your coaching staff is always receptive to and encouraging of communication. We ask our athletes to keep us informed and to communicate with us (the coaches). We also ask the same of our parents. Although a decision may not be made on the spot, a timely response or decision will be made.
It is our intention (head coach and assistant coaches) to have the best season possible for our athletes. Every coach of our team is here for the athlete. Please come to the coaches as soon as there is a question or concern. If we all communicate, we can all be on the same page. We will do our part to keep athletes and parents informed. We ask our athletes and parents do the same.
As by our districts policy, a question or concern should always first be brought to the attention of the coaching staff. If the coaching staff (Head coach) is not able to answer the question or take care of the concern, the question or concern should be brought to the MPS Athletic Director (Mitch Lunde). If an answer or resolve is not able to be provided, the next step would be to bring the question or concern to the Superintendent of MPS. If still no resolve or answer is provided, the MPS School Board would be the final means of obtaining an answer or resolve.
This information is provided so we are all able to go through the appropriate channels to take care of any questions or concerns. Your coaches all want what is absolutely best for the team and our athletes. If we all keep the team and athletes first, we know that we will make this season and any season in the future the best possible.
Thank you for your communication with the coaches and your support of our athletes. You can contact me (Head Coach Jake Solper) at any time on my cell phone (701-720-3005). If I am not available to take your call at that given time, please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible. Thank you again. Lets keep our Minot Magician tradition alive and keep this Minot High School Swimming and Diving team important and significant in the lives of all the athletes that go through our program.
Sincerely,
Coach Solper
