I am a Research Economist and Advisor in the Financial Markets Group of the Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Previously I worked at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and the International Monetary Fund. In 2026 I serve as IBEFA's President and the IBEFA-ASSA 2026 Program Chair.

RESEARCH NEWS

In a Faculti.net interview, I discuss the zombie firm phenomenon in the United States, with reference to how capital rules redirect zombie lending from banks to nonbanks. Check out the video interview and the background research paper "Zombie lending to U.S. firms."
In the paper Bank Financing of Global Supply Chains (with Laura Alfaro, Mariya Brussevich, and Andrea Presbitero), we show that specialized U.S. banks reduced financial and information frictions facing U.S. importers who rerouted supply chains after the 2018 China tariffs.
