File replication is widely used in structured peer-to-peer systems to avoid hot spots in servers and enhance file availability. The number of replicas and replication distance affect the file replication cost. The main goal of this paper is to implement file replication and file consistency maintenance protocols for text files for achieving overall high performance of peer-to-peer file sharing systems. This paper introduces a group of File Replication Servers (FRS) that are responsible for ensuring the file availability, in order to fulfill the file request. File Encryption and Decryption is also implemented to maintain integrity of files over the network.
A file replication service is a service in which stored or archived data is duplicated in real time over the network. Other terms for this type of service include file replication, data replication, and remote storage replication. This expression is also referred to as duplication. A file replication service provides an extra measure of redundancy that can be invaluable if the main storage backup system fails. The immediate access to the replicated data minimizes downtime and its associated costs. If the service is properly implemented, can streamline disaster recovery processes by generating duplicate copies of all backed-up files on a continuous basis.
