The 22nd Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society, Assam State Branch (ABSCON) was held in Guwahati on 22nd and 23rd September 2012. In keeping with the mental health related problems of recent times, the theme of the conference was selected as "School Mental Health -- Mind the young minds."

In present civilised society, mental health related problems among school children and adolescents are on the rise. The issue of school mental health is yet an under developed and untouched area in our country which requires immediate attention, from all concerned, so as to safeguard the interest of our future citizens.
