About the Scottish Mindfulness Research Community
The Scottish Mindfulness Research Community (SMRC) is a developing grassroots network which promotes and supports mindfulness related research and audit activity among clinicians, academics, students and other relevant mindfulness practitioners based in Scotland. We have over 100 members across six universities and seven health boards across Scotland and are also keen to develop links and research collaborations within the UK and further afield. We work closely with local mindfulness organisations including the Scottish Mindfulness Interest Group (SCOTMIG) and Mindfulness Scotland.
SMRC meets bi-monthly, alternating between venues in Edinburgh and Glasgow to discuss new projects, local research supports and any topics of relevance to the membership. Meetings include opportunities to drink tea and engage in brief mindfulness practice in addition to research and group planning. We plan to develop further collaborative sub-groups in specific areas of mindfulness research and to offer relevant educational and research training events.
