CREATIVE THINKING & WRITING
This practice is designed for the viewer to use his or her imagination. Take time to look beyond
the surface into the depth of the painting, connecting shapes and assembling colors to create
images throughout the painting. The more you look at the painting, the more you begin to see
and realize the unlimited possibilities within the painting....What do you see in a painting?
First Week: Students were introduced to Abstract Artist: Jean Michel Basquiat, Pablo Picasso and African Art.
Students were then shown art below and asked to choose painting A or B to title and write about.

THE SHAPE SHOW
I saw half of a triangle and a square, a 2 and
a green triangle. I also saw a talking circle and
a waking owl. Another thing I saw is a dot
driving a car. I also saw a circle fight a square.

MONSTER
A monster who likes watching TV. Painting A
is very cool. I really like the painting it looks
nice to me. I like how painting A has
different colors. The End

THE BLOOD SPITTER
There was some one who always spit out blood.
The blood spitters blood could go any where
he wanted it to. He spit blood in peoples drinks.
The blood did not look good but it taste good.

PAINT GLASS
I like painting B because it looks like painting glass.
I also like that it is very pretty and has my favorite
colors on it like pink and orange.

THE CRAZY FOOTBALL
In the crazy football the man is screaming
on the field and everybody was laughing
at him then he was embarrassed.

CRAZY PAINT
I like the painting. I like the colors of the
paint. I like all the different colors because
it is beautiful. I like the distance in the
painting but most of all I like how the
artist made the painting. The End

MAZE RUNNER
A teenager named Jake got lost in this crazy
maze and he went in the maze and he got lost
in the maze and he was trying to get out the maze
and he saw in the night time animals and the
animals helped him get out the maze.

MICHAEL JACKSON
When the singer was singing he got shot
in a movie theatre. In 2009 he had a funeral
in New York City. The person that shot him
lived in the Bronx. The End

SCHWIGGLY
I like it has scars. It is cool that it can be
with black lines. I like that it has dark and
light colors. It has white thats perfect with
me. I like that it has blue in it and that it
is big. I like that it has pink.

THE MUSIC PLAYER
I bought a music player with all my favorite
artist. My friends said they wanted it and
I said get your own and they said which
store and I said the music store. The End

THE CANDY
They eat candy at a store and then a boy
named Bill and then another boy came
named Jonathan and snatched the
candy so Bill started to cry and then
Bill's mom bought more candy and
they became brothers. The End

THE FIELD
There was a soccer a player in a game and he
fell down because somebody tackled him.

WHEEL AND SCHOOL BUS
There was a wheel that had a school bus
attached to his head. The wheel did not like
the bus. They traveled a lot in the ocean. The
wheel name was Emily. They had a lot of
arguments but in the end they loved each other.

The red is wide. It has black. It is fun to look at.

THE MYSTERIOUS KINGDOM
Once upon a time there was a kingdom in
the forest. There lived a king and a queen
and a princess.

THE ROOM OF REAL LIFE
The room was cold so the room got hot. The fan
was on a person who walked in the door, it was
a man, the girl was sleeping. There was a light
ball on the bed. The man was good so he
helped put the fan away, it was fun.
