     How to Determine if Vehicle has an EDR “Black Box”      

 Identify Year, Make, and Model of Vehicle

  If unknown get Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) from driver’s side door or base of windshield (17 digit alpha-numeric)

 Go to http://www.decodethis.com/ and enter VIN to get Year, Make, and Model

  Go to http://www.cdr-system.com/resources/coverage.html to see if that vehicle is covered

  If interested in what information may be in that vehicle, install Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) System software from same site (Free)

 Go to help file under “Vehicle and Cable Lookup”

   Select Make of vehicle

   Select Year of vehicle

   Select Adapter/Cable next to model of vehicle (8-10 digits)

  Read information and remember this data will not necessarily be on module,  but may be there
