LPIDBv1.1

WHAT IS LPIDB v1.1?

Latent Palmprint Identification DataBase (LPIDB) v1.1 is an extension to the dataset LPIDB v1.0, available at http://www.gpds.ulpgc.es/, which adds the coincident minutiae in the latent and template palmprints, and the orientation map of all the latent and template palmprints.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

  • Where are the palmprints and minutiae? Answer: The palmprints and minutiae are in LPIDB v1.0, available at http://www.gpds.ulpgc.es/.

  • What is the format of the matching minutiae XML? Answer: The file is named after the two palmprints that are matched. The first name is the template palmprint, followed by a dash, and the name of the latent palmprint. In the XML, the first element is the files which indicate the file_1 and file_2 names of the matching palmprints. Then, it contains a Matches structure. For each match, it indicates Minutia_1, which is the index of the Minutia in file_1, that matches with a minutia in file_2, indicated by the index contained in Minutia_2.

  • What is the format of the Orientation Image XML? Answer: The file indicates how many blocks of 16x16 pixels are in the image, where width indicates how many blocks are there in a row, and height how many blocks in a column. Each block has a row and column, and the angle of the average orientation at that block. If the value is null, then the region in the image does not contain friction ridges.
