  Miguel Francisco Chávez Mancreffe, (known as Miguel Chávez) is a Cuban singer, pianist and songwriter. He was born in Havana. 

He began his musical studies at a very early age. In 1968, Miguel Chávez graduated from the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory in Havana, specializing in Piano, Vocal Techinque Instruction, Solfeggio, Musical Theory and Choral Conducting. In the mentioned conservatory, the singer was the student of the Cubancomposer, conductor, and guitarist Leo Brouwer, from whom he took lessons on Musical Harmony. That same year, Miguel Chávez gave a graduation concert as a pianist at the Fine Art Palace of the National Council of Culture in Havana, and at the same time, he began his musical career as a singer at the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television.

Besides his performances in the different TV and radio musical shows, Miguel Chávez also carried out many tours and performances as a singer and pianist in various and most important events in Cuba.

In the 1970s, he made performances as a solo singer, being accompanied by the Cuban Orchestra of Modern Music under Rafael Somavilla´s conduction. The orchestra included well-known musicians, some of which were Chucho Valdés, Paquito D´Rivera, Carlos del Puerto, Arturo Sandoval, among others. The singer, pianist and songwriter took part in concerts and TV shows together with singers such as Elena Burke, Ignacio Villa, Rosita Fornés, Omara Portuondo, Moraima Secada, the group Irakere and the quartet named Los Zafiros. During those years, Miguel Chávez also performed in concerts with very famous Russian entertainers like Alla Pugachova, Valery Leontiev, Mijaíl Boyarsky, Alexander Rosenbaum, just to mention a few.

In the 1980s, Miguel Chávez toured different Eastern European countries, sharing the stage with performers such as Karel Gott, Helena Vondráčková, Lili Ivanova, Biser Kirov, Vasil Naidenov, Maryla Rodowicz, and many others. The singer was many times invited as a guest performer to festival galas by some of the relevant American singers such as Roy Orbison y Dolly Parton.

In the 1990s, Miguel Chávez performed as a singer and as a pianist in various events organized by the Theater Web of the Community of Madrid (Spain) such as Clásicos enVerano (Summer Classics). Besides, he took part in the May Festival in Madrid with Spanish performers like Sara Montiel, Pastora Soler, Rosendo, as well as with the bands La Unión and La Década Prodigiosa.

Among the singer´s different performing activities, it is also important to mention his creation of the Four Voices Quartets, one of which was the popular "Yo, Tú, Él y Ella (I, You, He and She). Apart from that, Miguel Chávez gave singing lessons in Havana and in Miami Dade Community College in Florida (USA).
