Our Teachers

Terry Harvey started dancing in the Delaware Valley in 1983 while a student at the University of Delaware. With his wife Line Farr he started a Scottish country dance class at Swarthmore College, and still teaches the weekly class. He received his full certificate in 1993. He’s a frequent instructor at Pinewoods, Asilomar, and Scottish Weekend (West Virginia). He also teaches various other basic, intermediate, and advanced classes in the Delaware Valley where he lives. Terry’s dancing philosophy is that the main point of dancing is enjoyment. Different dancers have different capabilities, but all of us can reach to become better dancers. Improvement leads inevitably to increased enjoyment on the dance floor. His goal is to present all these aspects of technique in ways that are fun, exciting, and challenging for as many people and in as many ways as possible.

Sue McKinnell started dancing in 1994 when she discovered the Fermilab group. Three years later she found herself 'seeing' a new dance in her mind. Dances kept popping into her head, so she wrote them down and took them to her local class, whose members generously tried them out (and continue to do so). She loves dances that flow seamlessly from figure to figure and greatly admires Roy Goldring's dances. She loves to hear people say they enjoyed dancing one of her compositions and was honored to have a dance published in Book 46. You can find her dances at: http://suedan.com/dances/index.php
