Acorn Stairlifts device used in Comic Relief show

Eagle-eyed users may have noticed a stairlift device similar to their own being used as part of a performance on last week's Comic Relief fundraising show.

According to the Telegraph and Argus, a from the West Yorkshire company "played a central role" in the Comic Relief fundraising, which secured a total of £74 million for a wide range of national and international causes.

Comedian Peter Kay, in character as Geraldine, used the lift to enter the stage during a performance on Friday's show and Acorn Stairlifts said they were pleased to be part of the fun.

Dave Belmont, Company secretary at the firm, stated: "We can supply and install stairlifts within hours of receiving an order and it was an easy task to install one for Comic Relief at the studios in Manchester."

Housing minister Grant Shapps recently announced that £180 million of funding is to be used to help local authorities fit homes with mobility aids such as stairlifts.
