I am an associate professor of Economics at The Robert Day School of Economics and Finance at Claremont McKenna College. My research focuses on joint consumption, income, and debt behavior at the individual level. I use dynamic stochastic models of individual behavior to simulate how consumption, saving, and debt react to changes in income such as paychecks and tax refunds. I then test these models using naturally-occurring account data from a personal finance app. My work uses machine learning techniques to process and analyze textual and numerical big data.
