Lessons for Littles (Ages 3-5)Home
Teaching little children to play is the most rewarding part of teaching violin! They are so cute! They love what they do so completely! As I slowly harness their stubborness and need to do things "right" to how to practice, they begin to progress faster and faster. Then my goals become to keep up with the rate at which they learn!
I take a traditional approach to teaching little children and have added a liberal dose of Suzuki method ideas. Whlie I do not ask parents to learn how to play the violin (a big part of Suzuki training for little children) I make sure that the parents know exactly how to help their chldren practice. We take intensive notes during the lessons and sometimes pictures or videos! I love to have parents working with the students during the lessons so that the parents feel sure that they are working well with their children at home.
As availability permits, I have my Littles meet for group lessons. Then the violin becomes more social. Knowing that other children are going through the exact same steps to learning helps my students become more patient with themselves.
