The Eclectic Golf Competition is run for members of Mortonhall Golf Club (MGC) over each off-season from 1 October to 31 March. The competition is not an official MGC competition and is run by a volunteer committee as follows :

Committee : Bill Aitken, John Inglis and Vic Montgomery.

Rules : An explanation follows of the basis of the Competition as well as the current rules to be followed over the course of play

Overall Cumulative : A summary of the overall cumulative position of all the competitors from 1 October up to the end of the month most recently completed, for Handicap and Scratch Competitions.

Monthly Cumulative : A summary of the monthly cumulative position of all competitors as at the end of each month from October to March inclusive.

Penalties : A summary of the handicap penalties awarded to the winners and runners-up in each monthly competition and the period over which the penalties apply.

Past Winners : All those who have won each of the previous years' Handicap and Scratch Eclectic Competitions.
