Dr. Gebremariam Assres is an Associate Professor in the Department of Technology at Kristiania University College, Oslo, Norway. He worked as a Research Fellow in the Department of Computer Science at Brunel University London, where he has been working under the Horizon 2020 NEWTON project since 2017. From 2009 to 2016, he served as an Assistant Professor at Aksum University; and from 2004 to 2009 he served as a Lecturer at Mekelle University, Ethiopia and taught courses like programming languages, distributed systems, software project management, artificial intelligence, data science, and mobile application development.

Over all, he has 20+ years teaching, research, and enterprise (community) service experience in higher education institutions. He received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia in 2000 and 2004, respectively.

He received his Ph.D. in Information Technology (Software Engineering Track) from Addis Ababa University in 2016. He has published research conference and journal papers in e-learning, software engineering, usability, cross-platform smartphone applications, multimedia, mulsemedia, Web service, and service-oriented architecture.

Dr. Gebremariam has collaborated with doctoral students in mulsemedia, user experience, and wearable devices; and also advised Master students in areas like expert systems.
