About me

I was born in Calgary, Alberta. My parents were both postdocs at the time, so you could say I've been around science since the very beginning. We moved pretty soon thereafter to San Diego before settling in Seattle, my hometown. I grew up playing soccer, violin, and basketball, while rooting for the Supersonics. I then did my undergrad at Caltech, where I studied biology and math, ultimately choosing the former because I loved the adventure and camaraderie of the laboratory environment. From there, I obtained my PhD from UC Berkeley, and did my postdoc at UCLA. Now I am excited to put all my training to work, starting a research group at NHGRI at the NIH!

When I'm not in the lab, you'll probably find me cooking, playing board games, squash or ultimate frisbee, visiting a museum, or watching PBS.
