The VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) is for students in 6th-12th grade. This team is highly recommended for anyone that plans to continue their STEM education into college and beyond! MercerBots VRC welcomes everyone and encourages parents and guardians to stay and join the fun. The VRC team has unique opportunities for everyone that can include building the robot, programming the robot, or even writing in an engineering notebook.
VRC uses pre-manufactured metal and plastic parts made by VEX Robotics that can be cut to any size. Members of the VRC team will get to build and program an 18x18x18-inch robot to do anything from stacking cones and blocks to throwing balls and climbing platforms. Members will learn many life skills while preparing them for a STEM career.
MercerBots VRC is honored to have members who have continued their education at Carnegie Mellon University, Georgia Tech, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and West Virginia University.
MercerBots VRC meets at Concord University in Athens, WV. Participants will be able to work and practice in the university labs and sometimes even use equipment provided by the university and the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences.
