Here are materials that I gave my students at my SAT Prep course. Did any parent contact me? Hmmm?

Beyond the SAT prep...
A project to support a college application
You: ________________________
Most universities are looking for someone with “something special.” one way to demonstrate that you are different from the other people who have similar GPA and SAT scores is to focus on your passion. What do you do when you are not doing school work? What do you think about? What articles do you read in a newspaper or online? What are your interests?
Teach something. Put it on Youtube. For example, one of the students loves to fish. So, demonstrate that love and expertise by video recording some of the best places to fish, the lures or bait that work best, the time of day and print business cards: “Florida Fishing Guide” and charge $25 per hour plus expenses to take people to those fishing holes.
Get a Facebook page and make sure the photos and videos show your passion and your expertise.
Take photos of you doing your project. Videos are the new photos – Capture “real” moments.
Get international email addresses in your email account and on your Facebook Friends list: Show the colleges that you are connected to five continents:
vgnjuguna@yahoo.com Kenya
tlasteve@gmail.com and link to the students
freeenglishlessons@gmail.com and link to the students
Join ORKUT (that will show others that you are REALLY international) and link to students at FreeEnglish Lessons

Some notes about how to find the right project for you
Here are some other ideas:
BarbraStern4hd91@aol.com She wants to improve education in Florida. Volunteer in her campaign or select another campaign. Do more than stuff envelopes. Write an issue analysis and include the paper in your application to university. Make a youtube video in support of the issue that you have analyzed.
TheStudentIsTheClass.com Dr. Abraham Fischler has a plan for improving schools. Volunteer in his office and write about what he talks about. Create an article that interprets his plan. Visit MavericksInEducation.com and the school near 163rd Street in Miami and describe how you imagine it would be like to study at that school. Send the article to a local newspaper.
Find a mentor and take notes. Keep a journal. Record your thoughts. Read parts of Blink, Outliers, The World Is Flat, Free Agent Nation, A Whole New Mind, posdev.net, Littky's Big Picture, VisualandActive.com
If you have questions about any of these projects or if you want some additional personal time with the SAT Tutor to plan your project, call me 954 646 8246 – one hour of consulting is included in the price of this course. Your success will be my success.

Dear Students
I am requesting that you write to AURORE in France lecuyer.aurore@neuf.fr. She has some teenagers who want to practice English. Here is a PERFECT opportunity to get some service hours. Just send a copy to me of everything that you write to Aurore and her students and you will get service hours... I am happy to write a letter showing your service.
Steve McCrea
(Aurore, I'm sending this letter to my students at a local training center.... if you suddenly get five email messages from US teenagers, now you will know why) lecuyer.aurore@neuf.fr
REMINDER TO ALL SAT students: please ask your parents to call me to confirm that the "project" is a good way to prepare for college (along with the SAT prep) and ask your parents to tell you some stories about difficult words and how they remember the words.

your other classes are more important than the SAT prep course. It's better to sleep in my class than to sleep in one of your "real" classes. Go ahead and recover. Most of what I say also appears on the website and on youtube.com/mistermath I will make a SHORT reiteration...
see, even I am using SAT words when I communicate. now, I must perambulate with my wife. She's a thesbian and we both enjoyed matriculating 25 years ago.

Campaign distortions often include certain amounts of truth but create false impressions. The classic example of this was a speech made by Rep. George Smathers of Florida in a Democratic primary campaign of 1950 for a U.S. Senate nomination in Florida.
Smathers told an audience of bumpkins that incumbent Claude Pepper was "a known extrovert," practiced "celibacy" before marriage, practiced "nepotism" with his sister-in-law, "matriculated" with women in college, that his sister was "a thespian" and his brother "a practicing homo sapien."
Smathers carried the rustic vote and won the election.

Sometimes arcane and high-falutin’ words can be used as weapons. No one knew this better than former Senator Claude Pepper of Florida. In 1950, Pepper, a three-term incumbent, ran for re-election and faced off against Congressman George Smathers in the Democratic primary. Smathers launched an infamous smear campaign against Pepper that today sounds more like a fake political ad from Saturday Night Live.
Smathers outed Pepper as "a known extrovert," his sister as a "thespian," and his brother as a "practicing homo sapien." He accused Pepper of practicing "nepotism" with his sister-in-law and of "matriculating" with young women in college. Worst of all, he "practiced celibacy" before marriage.
Naturally, voters were horrified, and Pepper lost by over 67,000 votes.

Dear Sir or Madam,
To stabilize our economy we should get banks out of the mortgage business, or at least require them to compete with U.S. Taxpayers.
If our government would make35 year loans directly to homeowners to refinance (with taxpayers’ monies) all mortgages on primary residences at a 1% interest rate, and allow borrowers (taxpayers) to make interest only payments for 5 years, the following would happen:
· Monthly mortgage payments would be about $85 per $100,000 borrowed. The average family would pay between $100 and $200 per month for their mortgages.
· Instead of losing their homes, many of the unemployed and most of the underemployed could still afford to make their mortgage payments.
· Current foreclosure rates would decline and home prices would stabilize. Families would have discretionary income again to pay down debt and purchase consumer goods.
· The economy would grow; businesses would need to hire and unemployment rates would fall.
· Such a program itself would employ tens of thousands of laid off bank and finance specialists.
None of the above would require synthetic government “stimulus” programs, just the responsible and judicious allocation of taxpayers’ resources to benefit taxpayers (instead of investment bankers, their lobbyists and elected officials).
After the initial 5 year interest only period, monthly payments including principal would “soar” to $321 per $100,000 borrowed.
Some might decry such a plan as “socialism” because the federal government is involved and citizens (taxpayers) benefit. These people should consider that these mortgages would be loans not gifts, also, historically the vast majority of mortgages have been secured by the government anyway. The money lent to taxpayers would be tax payers’ money; so why not just eliminate the “meddlemen”?
Respectfully Yours,
Kenneth Diffenderfer
