I had the opportunity to intern at Ford Motor Credit Company( the financial branch of Ford Motor Company) as an application developer intern the summer of 2017. I had actually worked at Ford Motor company the previous summer which gave me a unique perspective on the relationship between the two companies. During this internship I word with the Online Vehicle Financing team making enchantments to the various application that the team was in charge of. I mainly worked on the Online Credit Applications during my time at Ford Credit, making both functional and security enhancements to the application. You can see more details of the specific enhancements I worked on in the presentation and in the speakers notes of that presentation on the bottom of the page.
My team
As a computer science student I used and practiced many of the skills and tools that I learned in school, such as Java, Github, and Eclipse. I also was exposed to some new skills and tools such as AngularJS and JavaScript, continuous integration, and PCF(Pivotal Cloud Foundry). I was also exposed to many Agile practice like TDD(test driven development), pair programming, stand-ups,demo and Lightning talks. I got to obverse a team who practiced Xtreme agile launch their minimum viable product into production as well as sit in on their Sprint Zero planning session.
I also got the opportunity to contribute back to Ford by participating in the intern innovation fair, where a team of interns came together to create a solution to a problem or enhance Fords products and processes. Our team came up with a mobility solution called the Mobility Kiosk (see linked page). To me, the main value of this project was how much I learned about what it took to get an idea from conception to implementation. This experience also helped me improve my technical skills as well as network with other interns and their teams. I also was able to use the skills I had gained from my internship (e.g. git/GitHub) to contribute this project.
