Fourth Grade

Time and Measurement

Elapsed Time  Use this site to practice elapsed time

Greater Than/ Less Than/ Equal  Students must choose the correct sign to compare 2 numbers that are shown

At the Vet (metric)  Students must find height, weight, and length of different critters.  Students can move the brown objects in front of the vet to help measure length and height; they must place animal on the scale to get weight.  If all measurements are correct, a new animal will appear.  If some are wrong, students must correct them before going on

Grams/Kilograms  Students must weigh objects.  To make this more challenging for students and to have students practice g/kg and kg/g conversions, if the scale is in g, have them type in answer in kg and if scale is in kg, have them answer in g.

Reading a Ruler  (Customary units)  Practice reading an online ruler at this site

Money

The Coin Game--Subtraction  Use this game to find out what coins were subtracted from an amount of money to equal a given amount.  Hint:  Count from the answer!

The Fish Bowl  Drag the proper amount of money (coins and bills) to equal a given amount.  If you're right you get a fish added to your aquarium!

Making Change  Use this game to practice making change.  Type in the number of each coin that you would need to make the correct change.  Hint:  Count from the amount spent.

Shop Keeper
You are working at a store.  Click on each coin or bill the number of times that you need to get the correct number of that coin or bill onto the counter to make change.  Hint:  Count from the amount spent!

Making Money  Use this money manipulative to count bills and coins

Geometry

Party Planning  Arrange the tables for a party based on information given.  See what a good party planner you are!

Perimeter and Area    A very colorful site with nice explanations of how to calculate both perimeter and area. Then students can practice calculating both on three different levels of difficulty.

Perimeter of Irregular Shapes
This site gives practice with finding area of irregular shapes by counting on a grid.

Measuring in centimeters  Practice measuring using a centimeter ruler

Banana Game  Move the monkey to the location of the given angle to score points

Arcade  Use this arcade type game to see how many targets you can hit by estimating the angle

Lost Aliens  Find the lost aliens by setting the correct angle measurement

Circle Tool  Use this site to explore circles, radius, diameter, and circumference  (challenging)

Parallel and Intersecting Lines  Use this online lesson to practice parallel and intersecting lines

Geometry Vocabulary Match  Match the geometry terms with their picture

Numbers and Operations

Mall Math  Challenging real life math activity set in a shopping mall.  Good for group problem solving or enrichment for small groups.

Fraction/Decimal Convertor  Students can use this site to check their answer when converting a decimal to a fraction

Decimal Number Line
Students can practice reading decimals on a number line at this site.  It opens on the direction page.  You must click on "Use the decimal number lines too!" at the top of the page to move to the interactive number line

Division Machine  Use this site to practice basic division facts and problems.  Leveled practice

Fresh Baked Fractions
Students practice the concept of equivalent fractions at this self-correcting site

Equivalent Fractions  Students will use this activity to practice the concept of equivalent fractions--fractions represented numerically and visually

Matching  Neat matching game to use for matching shapes to their name, quantities to their number, fractions to decimals/percents.  Can be set as matching or concentration....can even be set to read words for younger students.

Who Want to be a Mathionaire??  Win a "$1,000,000" by answering all the rounding questions correctly.

Place Value  Use this site to work with interactive place value charts

Algebraic Concepts

Patterns  Guess the next number in the pattern.....varying levels of difficulty

What Number Comes Next?  Can you find the next number in the pattern?  Many different levels in this game

Balance the Scale  Students must choose the number that will make the equation on one side of the balance equal the number on the other side.  Beginning algebraic expressions.

Data Analysis and Probability

Create a Graph
Students may use this kid friendly site to create several types of graphs

Fish Tank  What is the probability of getting a certain color fish from the tank?

Silly Bugs  Introduction to coordinate pair graphing (1 quadrant only)

Narthex Stone  More challenging coordinate pair graphing- uses all four quadrants to play this game

Problem Solving

Problem Solving
Use this site to solve 10 problems.  By holding your cursor to the left of the "magic blackboard" you can watch the letter on the blackboard rearrange and reveal the answer.

Problem Solving 2  Use this site to solve 10 problems.  By holding your cursor to the left of the "magic blackboard" you can watch the letter on the blackboard rearrange and reveal the answer.
