Strategy

The strategy component of our program is intended to help clients develop a clear sense of their personal or organizational vision, mission, goals and objectives, and then develop an effective strategy to achieve them.

Strategy is about making choices - about what we will and will not choose to do. Our goal is to help clients to get clear on this so that decisions are well-understood and are aligned to acheiving desired outcomes.

Strategy is important at organizational, departmental, team and individual levels. Everyone needs to be clear and aligned to purpose so that choices are evaluated objectively and decisions are made with an eye to both short and long term outcomes.

At the organizational level, we believe it is critical to get clarity from a top-down perspective. What does the executive leadership team say is the vision, mission, goals and objectives. Is everyone on the same page? Is everyone working with the same definitions and timeframes. So often, organizational dysfunction is due to a lack of clarity and communications! So our focus is to help clients achieve clarity before consensus, so that there is solid alignment for all subsequent planning activities.

On an individual level, we believe that in order to develop personally and professionally, you must develop a road map that clearly identifies and articulates your life's vision, mission, goals and objectives. What are you called to do? This creates a foundation for development of individual strategies and plans to help you achieve desired outcomes. At Meaningful Metrics we work with clients using a variety of tools and approaches to achieve clarity on expectation so that an achievable plan can be developed.

This process starts with assessments of individual and team behavior, motivators/drivers, emotional intelligence, acumen and soft skills. We also look at how individuals and teams are perceived by others with a personal branding assessment or 360-surveys. The assessment information is analyzed, presented and discussed to develop a full understanding of individual, team and organizational implications.  Do you have the right people? in the right roles? Are the vision, mission, goals and objectives clear? Clearly articulated? Are priorities and timeframes defined?

Organizational and interpersonal friction keeps an organization from moving forward effectively and efficiently. If there is not clarity and consensus, then engagement suffers and people don't do their best work! Our approach is to identify an minimize friction, and to optimize engagement by focusing on clarity and communications in support of developing a trust-based culture.

We use our proprietary approaches to help you and your organization think holistically about your journey, as we explore what you want more of and less of going forward. How are current decisions supporting or obstructing progress? Strategies that written once and not read/used (WORN - Written Once, Read Never) or get relegated to the top shelf (SPOTS - Strategic Plan on Top Shelf) are a wastes of time, effort and money. Strategies are actionable plans to move forward to achieve defined goals and objectives in pursuit of mission and vision!

Strategic planning is an important discipline of finding clarity and aligning efforts. Strategic plans a intermediate work product that provides referential integrity and supports activities. The focus is on the planning, not the plan.

On an individual level, we look across various life dimensions: Career, Professional Development, Health/Wellness/Fitness, Friends/Relationships, Community Service, Family/Children/Parents, Lifestyle, Personal Development, Creativity and Spirituality.

We explore and construct a personal or organizational business model around a set of key questions:

This helps us to find out what really matters, and where you can focus and align your efforts to live fully into who you are.

As we develop a better understanding of your needs and your organizations, and what makes you/them uniqu, then we can focus on the critical few projects/initiatives that have meaningful impact. We want to focus efforts on what differentiates - not what makes you or your organization a commodity.

Do you understand your gifts? your differentiators? Are you focusing your investments on these? Or, are you getting distracted by the trivial many?

How serious are you about your current direction, investment and timing? Are you focused on outcomes or output?

Our strategy process is focused on helping you to get clear and get going on what really matters!
