Career Bio: 

Md. Rajibul Islam obtained his Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) degree from Indira Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi, India, in 2004 and his Master of Science in Information Technology (Biometric Image Processing) degree from Multimedia University in Malaysia (MMU) in 2010. Following that, he began his professional career as a Research Assistant, Software Engineer, and so on in many university research institutes and R&D at Malaysian software firms. Returning to academia as a Ph.D. candidate in 2017, he was awarded his Ph.D. in Physics (Photonics Engineering) from the Photonics Research Centre, University of Malaya (UM). He is currently a Research Fellow at the Photonics Research Institute, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and an Associate Professor (on leave) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT). He formerly served as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP). In addition, he was a Visiting Ph.D. Researcher at the University of Limerick in Ireland as part of the Erasmus Mundus INTACT Program. His research interests include Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data mining, and Optical fiber sensors. He has approximately 85 peer-reviewed scientific articles in international journals and conferences, as well as a few books and book chapters. Dr. Islam volunteers as a reviewer for various international publications and regularly serves on several international conferences' scientific committees.
