Genealogy

Genealogy is a technical name for family history. Making family histories has been made easier by family history computer or online programs which keep all the information in a database and allow you to view and print the information in different ways - such as by pedigree 'trees' for any individual.

Fortunately there is a common file format (GEDCOM or '.GED' files) which allow you to import and export between programs, including the online sites such as familysearch.org and ancestry.com which run on the web rather than in your computer.
