Meet the leaders...

RyNo Detasseling (formerly Nesbit Cadillac Crew) has been around for a long, long time. Ryan Nesbit and Noel McMillin have over 60 years of combined detasseling experience and most of that as detasseling contractors with Pioneer in Dysart. In the early 90's Noel and Ryan were trained as lead supervisors under Ryan's brother Randy. Eventually, Noel and Ryan become partners with Randy and after Randy retired from detasseling, Noel and Ryan took over the reins. It has been a highly rewarding part-time job for both of them. As well as raising three children with his wife Melissa, Ryan spends much of the year advocating for suicide prevention and awareness, something he is passionate about. Noel teaches middle school math in the Waverly-Shell Rock School district and also has three children with is wife Megan. Both are afforded the opportunity to commit 100% of their time and talents to detasseling during the summer months. Along with Noel and Ryan, there are many other key players that have contributed over the years. Ryan McMillin, Bekah Russell, Joe Carter, and Zach Mixdorf all started with the Dunkerton crew at the age of 14, and Bekah and Zach continue to dedicate their time to the success of the crew. Zach, a full-time teacher, and Bekah, a stay-at-home mom, lend their hands part-time. Noel and Ryan along with the thousands of current and former detasselers are extremely fortunate for their commitment to the success of the crew.

There are a few constants as part of our crew:

  • Safety is priority one. Pioneer continues to implement safety training and safety rules and the Cadillac Crew is committed to working with Pioneer towards meeting the goal of a 100% safe season.

  • We do not advertise. We hire as many as 250+ workers most years solely based on word of mouth. In fact, we actually pay our veteran workers an extra $1.00 per hour per recruit.

  • The RyNo way is one supervisor for every four rookie workers. Our supervisors are trained to teach and our supervisors are hands-on. We maintain a high success rate by implementing this strategy.

  • We pay a $1 per hour bonus for working 100% of the hours. We realized long ago that the best workers were the ones working day in and day out and that we needed to reward them for that effort.

  • The goal every year is to produce quality workers. There is a lot of pride and our team goes to great lengths to be the best crew in the Midwest.
