Since 1936, the McCook Lake Chapter of the Izaak Walton League (Ike's) has worked to protect the natural resources of McCook Lake and the Siouxland region through several conservation projects. Most recently creating a natural habitat area for wild life along the bank of the lake in coordination with SD Game Fish and Parks to provide food and shelter for several animal species living in the area. These projects are supported by volunteer members, grants and donations.
Our mission is to conserve, maintain, protect and restore the soil, woodlands, water and other natural resources; to promote means and opportunities for the education of the public with respect to such resources and their enjoyment and wholesome utilization.
In past years through bingo and video lottery proceeds and dedication of volunteers the McCook Lake Izaak Walton League is proud to make a difference in our community. Giving back to the community is extremely important the McCook Lake Izaak Walton League. We're always lending a helping hand. The McCook Lake Izaak Walton League has put more than $2.3 million dollars back in community through payroll dollars and over $400,000 has been donated to various South Dakota colleges and foundations.
