McCook Lake IWLA presently has five vacancies on its Board of Directors and invites interested individuals to contribute to the preservation of our legacy and the direction of our organization. Should you believe your expertise aligns with our mission, or if you can recommend a suitable candidate, we encourage you to contact one of our board members or our caretaker. Prospective board members requirements are to have attended a minimum of three general meetings annually and maintain good standing within the organization.
The McCook Lake Izaak Walton League is a treasure trove of offerings for our members. Nestled in nature's beauty, our sprawling grounds boast an array of amenities, including a cozy clubhouse, two inviting picnic shelters, a private beach complete with kayak and paddle boats, a convenient boat ramp, day use docks, annual slip rentals, and personal kayak storage racks. Not to mention, our public beach on the east side of the lake has been expanded to more than double its size, providing ample space for sun-soaked relaxation. For nature enthusiasts, we have two large conservation areas where hunting is permitted, and we actively engage in conservation projects with local organizations to protect McCook Lake's water levels and quality, preserve island wildlife habitats through a tree and shrub project, and maintain WRP land and public hunting areas. Moreover, our calendar is packed with exciting events that vary with the seasons, from volunteer projects and thrilling fishing derbies to heartwarming potluck dinners that foster a sense of community among our members. Plus, our clubhouse is available for rental, making it a perfect venue for weddings, graduations, family reunions, and other special occasions, not only for our members but also for the general public. As a proud supporter of education, we offer scholarships to graduating high school students and contribute to various school programs in our local community, exemplifying our commitment to giving back.
