I feel that effective tutoring addresses practical considerations (immediate help with assignments and exams) while also working to deepen a student's knowledge of the underlying topics.
I use technology enthusiastically when doing math. However, when working with high school students I always try to provide help that complements classroom instruction and methods.
I have a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University. My research was in decision theory, a predominantly-mathematical subfield of microeconomics. I did my undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, where I majored in math and economics.
