About Me

Welcome!My name is Erin Mays. Welcome to my online portfolio! This website features some of the work I have completed during the Learning Design and Technology graduate program at Purdue University. While I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in this program, I am looking forward to being finished.

I grew up and still live in Fairfax, VA, a suburb of Washington, D.C. I currently work as a Training and Education Specialist with the Federal Government. I have been in the job for a little less than a year, and have already found multiple opportunities to use my degree. My primary project for the last year has been the redesign and development of the Human Resources website; however I also work with our catalog of courses and am leading a working group to examine ways to enhance motivation and engagement with the resources we develop.

I got into this field after attending a breakout at the Army Distributed Learning Conference in which the speaker discussed using the Halo Reach Map Editor to design and execute training. I am especially interested in motivation and was really hoping the games and simulations class would be available online before I graduated.
