Church twinning project.

After the Wesleyan Reform Union Appeal “The Samaritan's Well”, we are now twinned with a small church in North India. Please remember the village, the church and the people in your prayers.

What are you doing to try and reach your community for Christ?

Arranging prayer meeting and preaching Christ to everywhere in our village. Visiting house to house and telling about Jesus. Now and then conducting special meetings in our village. Whole village has come to know about Christ through our various activities.

Tell us about how your church is developing – recent new activities, numbers of new believers or those added to the church, numbers of baptisms of believers. Is the church growing?

Visiting and telling about Jesus and whenever getting chances conducting special meetings. Sharing our experiences what Lord has done in our life. Sometimes sick people come and praying for them and say to them that believe in Jesus and Lord will send his word upon them and heal them. Recently people joined with our ministry by taking baptism. Our church is growing.

What problems are you experiencing with regard to persecution of the church?

Really we have different kinds of problems being as we are in the midst of gentiles (non-believers?). They are not allowing us to draw water from their well/hand pump. Apart from this they are keeping their distances because we believe in Jesus. Also they oppose or abuse against Christians. Sometimes they are taking action against our worship. These are the few things which we suffer.

What are the particular needs of your church or village?

Our village people are illiterate and financially so weak. Therefore their children are not able to attend school. Many people do not have sufficient food also. Education is an important things in life but due to lack of education people suffer. Poor children are wandering here and there. Also poor people suffer by sickness and weakness. In common, education and health is the main need of our church and village.

What ongoing prayer requests do you have at this time?

We are in need of biblical literature, mat and musical instruments. At least a cycle is must to visit our nearest one in their urgent moment. So kindly pray for these subject. Also kindly pray for poor and weak children. We desire to give them education for them. Please pray for them.

Background information which may be helpful.

Uttar Pradesh is in North India. It borders Nepal and is coloured pale blue on the map of India above. It has a population of over three times that of England.

Because England is just over half the area of Uttar Pradesh, it is more thinly populated.

Unnao district has about four time the population of the Sheffield district, but because Sheffield is a much less rural area, Sheffield has about three times the population density.
