Tuberculosis and GI parasites in African buffalo

In 2018 I started to work on a research project that aims to understand the intrahost dynamics of Mycobacterium bovis, Haemonchus sp. and Cooperia sp. infections in wild African buffalo at Kruger National Park (South Africa). Through field and lab studies based at the University of Georgia (USA) we are identifying the immunological factors that translate on protection from TB and higher fitness in this wildlife population.
