My name is Matt Macpherson. I am a retired high school math teacher and adjunct college professor. I taught high school from 1996 - 2024 and was an adjunct professor from 2014 - 2024. I did enjoy my time teaching, but my true love is music. I played bass guitar in a band called Bluefish for a little over a year before getting my high school teaching job. Between the job and having kids with my beautiful wife Karen, music took a back seat. Around 2016 I got back into playing music with an acoustic trio called Modular Jack and the Flush Mounts. I played with them for a year and a half along with dabbling a little bit on my own acoustically. During the summer of 2017 I started playing solo down in Sea Isle City and I absolutely loved it, so I decided to stay solo.
I play in the South Jersey area at 814 South Pub & Kitchen (Somerdale), The Oaklyn Manor (Oaklyn), Riley's Pub in Valleybrook Country Club (Blackwood), LaScala Birra (Pennsauken), The Taproom (Haddonfield), and Vesuvio's Ristorante (Swedesboro).
I own a condo in Sea Isle City, so I play a majority of my gigs down the Jersey shore. I play at The Oar House Pub (formerly the Lobster Loft) in Sea Isle but also play The Rock 'N Chair (Avalon), The Country Club Tavern (Cape May Courthouse), Mooncussers (Cape May), Cape May Winery (Cape May), Willow Creek Winery (Cape May), Westside Saloon (West Wildwood), and Obscura Brewing Company (Cape May Courthouse).
I play a wide variety of music. I play a lot of sing along type of songs. Mostly classic rock, but I definitely sprinkle in some country, oldies, R & B, alternative, current songs.....I'm all over the map! If you have a request and I know it.....I'll be happy to play it for you!
Hope to see you out at a gig! Stop up and make a request!
