A little about me:

• I'm currently a teacher at Dixon High School

• Throughout my teaching career I've taught many different kinds of math classes, including taught IM 1, 2, 3, AP Calculus, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and IM 1 & 2 Support classes (some of my favorite classes to teach)

• I grew up in Turlock, CA but have lived all around California

• Growing up, I was involved in 4-H, FFA, Dance, Cheerleading, showing and riding horses, and even tried volleyball, basketball, and softball

• I went to college at UC Santa Barbara where I got my Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and a Minor in Math Education, I got my Single Subject Mathematics teaching credential at Cal Poly SLO, and my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University.

• I love my family: my husband Darren, my daughter Charlotte, my son Dayton, and my puppy Maddi

• My hobbies include dancing, hiking, travelling, watching football, cooking, crafting, hair/make-up, fashion, & party planning

• I LOVE dressing up for spirit days

• In addition to teaching, I have also been the Dixon High Mathematics Department Chair since 2018

• I have worked with many UC Davis students, both undergrad and Credential Candidates, mentoring them in becoming a teacher and hosting them in my classrooms as interns and student teachers.

• Outside of the classroom, I deliver Professional Development to other teachers and enjoy sharing effective and equitable teaching strategies through my work as a UC Davis Math Project Teacher Leader, speaking at various conferences, and publishing articles in Edutopia, the California Teachers Association Educator magazine, and the California Mathematics Council’s ComMuniCator. 

• I was recently named as a 2023 finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, and am hoping to expand my reach in sharing strategies through this network.
