Aim
To investigate the probability of tossing coins
What To Do
Each kid has a coin.
Ask them what is the probability that if you toss the coin twice you will get all heads.
Let them test it out, say 5 times, to see if they were right.
Collate the results from each kid on a table and discuss the results.
Use a probability tree to help explain the probabilities.
Repeat this process with 3 and 4 tosses.
Try different criteria such, what is the probability that after 5 tosses you will not have more that 1 head.
Get suggestions for the answer before trying it out.
Then test it out - are the results consistent with their predictions?
Try a case a larger number of throws where making a probability tree gets time consuming.
