Welcoming lunch for our new Phd. students !!! 08/31/2016

Mentoring Program

We prepare to welcome every year's intake of new PhD students, and we would like to offer each new student a "student mentor", whom we can put them in touch with prior to their arrival on campus. Having a student contact available to ask practical questions about studying here, and about living in the area, is something that new students really appreciate. Students who are willing to act as mentor to a new student are put in touch with a suitable "match". In general, it's nice if we can pair up international students with other internationals who will have similar concerns (perhaps even a common language). We also match mentors by program, so that any new student and the mentor should be on the same PhD track.

Soccer Team

As a Math Club, we have an outdoor soccer game in our department between undergraduate and graduate students accompanied with faculties. The game has been held annually on May before finishing the Spring semester. Recently we have organized a team including graduate students and faculties for indoor soccer game at NJIT, called NJIT Intramural 5-on-5 Indoor Soccer, and participated in the league. Finally, the Math Department Team got the second rank among 20 teams.

NJIT Graduate Student Research Day (GSRD)

NJIT Graduate Student Research Day (GSRD) is a day that graduate students from all departments at NJIT present their researches and works to both NJIT faculties and students. The 12th NJIT GSRD was held on November 1, 2016 and as always students from Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) participated in the venue. This year , Professor Richard Moore and Professor Ji Meng Loh were honorable referees for NJIT GSRD.

Soccer Game

It is a tradition to have soccer game at the end of Spring semester.

It provides us an additional way to socialize with faculties in our department and celebrate the end of semester.

This year, we had players from physics department and chemical engineering department.

After the soccer game, we had a lunch gathering.
