WiMD: Wireless (wifi/cellular/IoT) mobile devices
The Distributed Cloud is divided in to Cloud Cells (like cellular network)
Each Cloud-Cell has its own resources
Demo Description:
A user with an WiMD (a smart Android phone in the demo: WiMD1; see on the left panel of demo video) moves from building 15 to building 13 (movement tracked via Google map; see on the top left side), takes pictures and applies special effects on the images.
There is a Cloud-cell WiMD (a laptop: WiMD2) in building 15 connected to building wifi domain. Similarly in building 13 (WiMD3).
When WiMD1 is in the same wifi domain as WiMD2, the special effect processing is handed over to the WiMD2.
When WiMD1 moves out of the building 15 wifi range into cellular domain (3G network), the processing is handed over to CIS (Cisco Intercloud Service; in the demo Cloud-cell framework/agent was running in the Amsterdam DC). You'll notice wifi icon on WiMD1 changing to 3G icon.
When WiMD1 is in building 13 wifi range, processing is handed over to WiMD3.
