IMPORTANT COVID-19 VIRUS UPDATE:
The Distribution Companies have issued Force Majeure notices to interconnection customers regarding impacts of the COVID-19 virus on interconnection processes. See the DPU's Force Majeure web page for more.
On March 13, 2013, the DPU issued an Order (DPU 11-75-E) approving the creation of an Ombudsperson role at the DPU on a trial basis for an interim of one year. In DPU 11-75-F (7/31/14) DPU made that position permanent. If you've submitted an application to get interconnected and you are running into difficulties there are a number of options to consider. These are your options:
A) General Assistance on Renewable Energy: DPU has a new web resource, entitled Who to contact about a renewable energy question or concern, which provides a list of issues that DPU, DOER, and the electric distribution companies can help you with. This page also provides information on the best way to contact each entity.
B) Are you seeking legal action? If you are disagreeing with the utility's approach to processing your interconnection application, and you want to know what legal recourse you have, we recommend you review the Alternate Dispute Resolution process described in the relevant Company's interconnection tariff. See instructions for involving the DPU Ombudsperson in the DPU issued Order (DPU 11-75-E).
If you would like to request a Department of Public Utilities facilitated dispute resolution process, pursuant to Section 9.0 of the Standards for Interconnection of Distributed Generation Tariff, please fill out a request form here. Please include as much information as possible in your submission, including the specific rule, regulation, or tariff provision you believe the distribution company has violated and the remedy/resolution you are seeking.
C) Do you need assistance understanding the interconnection tariff and other resources on this website?
