In over 30 years of teaching guitar, I have discovered that students learn quickest by studying early "Roots" music; these old folk standards supplemented with contemporary rock classics instills the motivation required to practice and discover new items on the instrument.

I also understand that each student has their preference of music, therefore I encourage each to student bring a few songs that they want to learn so I can prepare those notes for them. I combine the best of ear training and scale soloing and improvisation, with guitar music theory and understanding.

Being an experienced church musician, musical proficiency is an absolute requirement. Often times, band mates/musicians are self-taught, thus requiring a degree of tutoring and modeling. My method combines the best of music theory and immersion in the Nashville Number System.
